18-year-old R&B singer dubbed “the first lady of Crunk & B”. Her first single “Goodies” was one of the most played songs on pop and urban radio in summer 2004, and now she is with one of the most populau male rap artists Bow Wow.

Ciara was born in Austin, Texas. As her father was in the United States Army, she lived in bases in Germany, New York, California, Arizona, and Nevada. Her family eventually settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where she set her sights on becoming a singer after seeing Destiny's Child appear on television.

Eventually, she met producer Jazze Pha who signed her to his Sho' Nuff label after working with her for five days. She co-wrote Goodies with Sean Garrett, who co-wrote the Usher Raymond #1 hit Yeah. Lil Jon produced the song in the crunk style that is his speciality with Petey Pablo also featuring on the track. The song has been seen as an answer song to Pablo's Freek-a-Leek. The single was released in the US summer through LaFace Records.

Goodies became a massive hit, reaching the top of the US R&B and pop charts and also charting in Australia, Germany, Sweden and New Zealand. The album of the same name was released in October 2004, debuting at #3 on the Billboard 200. A second single, 1,2 Step, featuring Missy Elliott, had reached the top 40 in the US.
